In the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, all students "make" through experiment and practice, "create" new information systems, and discover the pride and joy of "building". They work hard to acquire the ability to "Create, Build and Make" for themselves.
"Information Science" incorporates a variety of fields. As such, this course uses a flexible system that first teaches basic knowledge, as the basis of information science, and students can later decide the field on which they will focus. Year 1 and 2 consist of lectures and experiments in mathematics and fundamentals of information science, and from year 3 students can select one of three main course groups to focus their study, such as "Computer systems", "Digital Media Technology", or "Intelligent systems". Of course, students can also study courses from more than one of these fields. In year 4, students select one of the many laboratories with different specialties, and by doing their graduation research there, further increase their expertise. Many people advance to graduate school to improve their specialist knowledge and ability to complete projects, and then find work in a specialized field as a researcher or system engineer.
Recently, many students have advanced into Master's courses in graduate school, and are gaining even more specialized knowledge in information science while advancing the research in the laboratory to which they are assigned. Of course, whichever field and laboratory they choose, they receive meticulous guidance from our rich educational staff.
The Department of Computer and Information Sciences covers a wide range of specialist fields and works to create a variety of choices for all of its students in the future.
